Poignant, Even Now...

Seven years later and 9/11 is still fresh in the minds of many people, even for those of us who were nowhere near New York when it happened and had no connection with the city whatsoever. Like me.

With that in mind, my flash piece One September Morning makes an appearance in this quarter's issue of BURST - an online literary journal which exists especially for bite-sized chunks of prose.

As ever, any feedback is appreciated.

Brian - I was very moved by your 9/11 piece. I live very close to NYC and my husband went early to the gym that morning - throwing off his schedule just enough so that he was several blocks away when the first plane hit. He stood mesmerized and horrified as the second fireball filled the sky and he took off running. Once in his own building, he and his workers watched out their windowed walls as the huge grey cloud slowly turn the sky dark. There are so many sad stories. We are lucky none of our close friends or family were killed, but we are a commuting suburb and know families who lost loved ones.

Very powerful, Brian. It's amazing what you can do with such a short number of words...

Thank you very much Caroline and Claire, for the kind words.

Caroline -- your husband's story is one of thousands from that sad day. Let's hope somethin' like it never happens again.
