Ghostwriter...

I don't know when I learned what a haiku was, but when a work colleague asked me to write a volcano themed one for her nine year old daughter, all I could do was shake my head in disbelief. Nine year olds are being taught about haikus?

Anyway, after I reattached myself to the situation I jotted one down for her, not that I condone doing someone else's homework, but I don't mind kicking in a little Japanese poetry. It's seventeen syllables. Where's the harm? Apparently she had to interpret 'her' words in front of the rest of the class as well, which would have been good to see...

...Of course, the fact that her teacher didn't doubt she had written it in the first place means that, as far as the art of the haiku goes, I am obviously still very young indeed.

Better stick to the longer stuff.

Hey man, I meant to say that I read your story in Guildford Waterstones the other day! It was in the anthology called Read by Dawn and I was just flicking through the contents and I saw your name. WTF! Excellent hit, it must feel pretty good to go into a book store and see your name inside a cover.

I'll probably pick the book up at the end of the month!

Cheers,
ART

Thanks guys.

Nice one Lee. I'm not a great fan of the haiku but it does make you think about things in a slightly off-centre way.

ART - while you're at it, you should pick up Volume 1 and 2. I'm in there too!
